The Spanish Flu Pandemic was an unusually lethal strain of avian influenza. Its arrival in 1917 coincided with the end of World War 1, the mass movement of troops aided its spread and within 2 years 500 million people were infected and an estimated 50-100 million people died globally. What caused it ? Where did it come from ? What were the economic and social impacts ?
