7 miles off the Essex coast here in the UK lies a micronation called Sealand. The abandoned World War 2 gun platform formally knows as Fort Rough was occupied by a maverick genius called Paddy Roy Bates. The history of this "nation" is fascinating....from shooting at military vessels, declaring independence and the royal family of Sealand halting mercenary coup attempt. Never a dull moment.
